I am running for re-election to the Lane Community College Board of Education for Zone 3 and I want to ensure that LCC is financially stable, that leadership has what it needs to achieve the college’s goals, that students’ needs are met and are successful, that faculty and staff have competitive wages and the support they need, and finally I want to assist in addressing the growing needs of our community by supporting workforce partnerships and collaborative efforts with our vibrant local and regional businesses.
My organizational management, board governance, and community needs experience can make a difference. I believe I am uniquely qualified for the LCC Board of Education. During my eight years as the Executive Director of Hope & Safety Alliance (formerly Womenspace). I managed a multi-million dollar budget, 30+ employeess, with funding from federal, state, county, foundations and our wonderful community.
I am a Cornerstone Community Housing Board Member, past Poverty & Homeless Board rep, past Dev. Director, Cascades Raptor Center, Pro tem Instructor, UO Nonprofit Law Clinic, and nonprofit consultant. Read More
and passion to LCC Board
In this financially uncertain and difficult time, I will put my board governance and organizational management experience to use to help navigate the threats and opportunities for LCC. I am committed to ensuring that Lane Community College has the necessary funding and support to meet the growing needs of students, faculty, staff, and our community today and into the future.
*Met up with Representative Nancy Nathanson during a visit to Salem where I provided testimony on funding impacts for victims and survivors.
I fell in love with LCC!
Back in 2011, I had the opportunity to return to college to complete my bachelor’s degree I started in my early 20s. The Ford Family Foundation awarded me their Restart scholarship – allowing me to start at LCC, get my associate’s degree, and then transfer to UO for not only my bachelor’s in political science, but a masters certification in Nonprofit Management.
Staying Active
Before I came to Eugene, I owned and operated a successful small business in California, chaired a City appointed business development committee in Pacifia, CA and ran for city council where I lost by 11 votes. We bought our very first home and it was in the "Whit" where we stayed for 13 years. We downsized and have lived in Springfield for six years. I have been active in the community since I arrived in 2006. In the past few years I've been busy attending community and business meetings around the area addressing our housing and shelter needs.
